  1. What have you been refusing to mourn because it felt easier to stay busy or numb?

verses 5 to 6

  1. Where are you grasping for something you could instead trust God to give?
  2. What are you genuinely hungry to see put right, in yourself or around you?

verses 7 to 9

  1. Who is it costing you something not to forgive, and have you counted how much you have been forgiven?
  2. Where is God asking you to make peace this week, even at your own expense?

For personal reflection at home

I feel like I have nothing to offer

The kingdom does not begin with your strengths, it begins with empty hands. If you feel you have nothing to bring God this week, you are closer to the door than you think. Stop trying to earn, and simply come poor. That is exactly who the kingdom is for.

I am mourning

Jesus does not rush you past your grief or ask you to pretend. He calls honest mourning blessed, because it is the only ground where real comfort can grow. Let yourself feel the weight this week, and let him meet you in it rather than around it.

I am hungry for things to be put right

The ache you feel for things to be made right, in yourself and in the world, is not a defect. It is a sign you belong to the kingdom. Do not numb the hunger, bring it to God, and trust the promise that the hungry are the ones who get filled.

I am caught in conflict

Peacemaking is not the same as avoiding conflict. It means stepping in and paying something to heal what is broken. It is costly, and it is exactly where you look most like your Father. Ask him this week where you are being called to make peace rather than to win.
